1948 Lamination2-368x329

A Huge Lamination on a 1948 Lincoln Cent

The Lamintaion error happens when coins are being struck on a defective planchet.

What Happens[]

Dirt or something small gets on the planchet, which causes the planchet to crack and break off. They also can be thin pieces of the die that peel off, creating a missing area of the planchet.[]
